Kenya Rejects ksh 3B debt relief

Kenya has shunned the opportunity to delay debt repayments through the end of the year, as a measure to cushion against the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic. This follows an initiative by the group of 20 major economies in the world (G20) to help lesser-developed countries mitigate the pandemic. US Embassy in Tanzania warns its Citizens to vacate as they disclose the truth about Coronavirus in Tanzania.

The United States Embassy has warned American citizens in Tanzania on the high risk of Corona virus in the country. In an advisory shared via email, the Embassy warns that the risk of contracting the virus is very high in Daresalaam. It also notes that the Tanzanian government is not forthcoming with information on the true extent of the virus in the country.  The embassy also claims that the hospitals in the country are overwhelmed and seeking medical care could be very difficult. It has advised its staff and citizens to stay at home unless going out to buy food. Kenya Central bank 'has no advice to give' to a man who found a stack of the old ksh.1000 notes

Eric Wakaria was doing some general cleaning in his humble abode, scouring every nook and cranny when he stumbled upon something that made his heart race. A bundle of old generation notes that are no longer in use. President Putin's spokesperson tests positive for coronavirus, days after a whitehouse official tested positive.

On Tuesday, Dmitry Peskov, the spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin, announced news that he had tested positive for coronavirus. He becomes the fifth senior Russian official to test positive for the virus. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov says he is hospitalized with the coronavirus. Peskov, a key aide of Russian President Putin, told the Interfax news agency on Tuesday, “Yes, I’ve gotten sick. I’m being treated.” Also infected was Peskov’s wife, Olympic ice dancing champion Tatyana Navka. She told reporters that Peskov’s condition was “satisfactory” and that the couple decided to enter the hospital so as not to expose the rest of their family. “He brought it (the virus) from work,” Navka was quoted as saying by the Daily Storm online outlet. Gilead strikes a deal to make remdesivir treatment of coronavirus for 127 countries.

Gilead Sciences has struck a licensing agreement with five generic drugmakers to make antiviral drug remdesivir for 127 countries, not including the United States, the company announced Tuesday.  Drugmakers Mylan, Cipla, Ferozsons Laboratories, Hetero Labs and Jubilant Lifesciences will manufacture remdesivir for distribution in "low-income and lower-middle-income countries, as well as several upper-middle- and high-income countries" that face health-care obstacles amid the coronavirus pandemic, the company said.  SEE ALSO REMDESIVIR IS THE NEW DRUG BEING USED TO TREAT CORONAVIRUS The deal is "royalty-free" until the World Health Organization says the Covid-19 outbreak is no longer a global health crisis or "until a pharmaceutical product other than remdesivir or a vaccine is approved to treat or prevent Covid-19, whichever is earlier," the company said.  The Food and Drug Administration on May 1 granted emergency use authorization for Gilead's remdesi
